The Application Of Dimensional Modeling In Telecom Data Warehouse

Based on traditional database technology for decision support system cannot meet the current needs of data warehouse for better business operation or commercial production decision support activities.In this paper, the actual demand of Shaanxi Telecom made business decisions based on data warehouse solutions.Data model is the key to the success of data warehouse, it directly determines the data warehouse's ease of use,easy scalability and easy maintenance. Generally use E/R model or dimension modeling as modeling strategy. This paper focuses on dimensional model of the design and optimization in data warehouse, combined with the data warehouse project in Shaanxi Telecom, it focuses on the design of data warehouse modeling including the design of the fact table and dimension table,through the star model and snow model to achieve dimensional model.This paper describes the theoretical basis of the data warehouse and completes the data warehouse architecture.After the comprehensive analysis of the focus project, and completed the design of dimensional modeling,Finally,it is the project's testing and validation.In data model of dimensional modeling,not only can provide the most rapid business decision_makers, and inquires of dimensional modeling has the better can understand and extensibility, especially for the sudden changes can respond promptly. Therefore, the dimensional model of data warehouse modeling is the only feasible technologies and methods.
