Bus is an important component in urban traffic and becomes the preferred traveling public transport. The intelligent development of bus system will improve the operational efficiency of urban transport and provide with convenient and comfortable travel environment for the public. Advanced public transportation system is combined of multiple technologies, such as modern control theory, positioning technology and means of communication. The bus terminal is the foundation and core of the public transport vehicle scheduling management system. In this paper, starting from the needs of practical application, combined with the advanced GPS positioning technology, GPRS wireless communication technology for vehicle service system of the bus terminal design, mainly for the following aspects of the research work:First, the design of the whole scheme of the vehicle terminal. The author has analyzed the work requirement of the vehicle terminal, taking into account the costs and applications, to determine a vehicle-mounted terminals, "Low-power high-speed processor + GPRS communication module" design.Second, the hardware design of the vehicle terminal. The author has designed the microcontroller circuit using MSP430 as the core controller, and designed all parts of the hardware circuit, including the GPS circuit, the GPRS circuit, pronunciation electric circuit, LCD display circuit, voltage resource circuit, and so on. The vehicle terminal information from the microcontroller through the GSM/GPRS wireless module sent to the monitoring center.Third, the software design of the vehicle terminal. According to the real demand analysis, the author has designed the overall work flow of the terminal software, the software design uses the C language programming, and achieved a positioning information verification processing, voice prompts newspaper stations, data storage, display and other functions. The vehicle terminal realizes automatic station report and keeps communication with monitoring center in real time. It can respond to the commands, report the vehicle state and location information. The design can reduce driver's operation, make more convenient for passengers and improve the bus service system.
