Car satellite positioning terminal is a collection of global satellite positioning technology (Global Positioning System, referred to as the GPS), General Packet Radio Service technology (General Packet Radio Service, referred to as GPRS) and embedded technology in one system. The system send the state of the target (time, longitude, latitude) and other information to a monitoring center through a wireless communication link, and monitor the monitoring target’s position, speed, direction and so on,can be widely applied to the transportation vehicle management and scheduling, vehicle antitheft and other fields, provides visualization for vehicle management, at the same time improves the vehicle’s operation efficiency and safety,provides a reliable and effective management way for modern transportation, has the certain social value and economic benefit.The paper first analyzes the development status and technical characteristics of the vehicle positioning system, completes the vehicle terminal software and hardware design of the overall program, and analyzed the system works on this basis. Simply discussed the related technology.For the design of the hardware platform, according to each functional module to select the appropriate chip design hardware circuits, and gives the module description and design schematics. Details of the power circuit design, the design of the GPS module, GPRS module design.In terms of the underlying software, build a S3C2440-based Linux embedded platform, the establishment of the necessary operations to run the application layer software environment. Including: the bootloader transplantation, production of cross-build environment configuration, the system kernel transplantation and file system.For application development,after in-depth study the development process of the Linux device driver,I configure GPS driver, build Qt development environment; write a PPP script to complete the automatic dial-up connection, and to achieve break automatically reconnect; write a program to collect and analysis the GPS positioning information, transmit the GPS positioning data through the SOCKET network programming. Finally,conducte a test of the vehicle terminal and summarize the complete work. The system features and thesis work are summarized,the system problems and the improvement program are also proposed. As well as proposing some suggestion on further develop and system optimization.
