Development And Study Of Product Structure And Configuration Management In PDM System

As the result of increasing market competition and rapid change of customer's requirements, manufacturing enterprises, especially those which develop and produce large and complex products, promote new requirements against product structure definition and configuration management. Practically product structure definition and configuration management under PDM architecture is one absolutely necessary core function of enterprise e-manufacturing supporting platform. This thesis therefore steps from the requirements of enterprise product design management and focus on studies on theory, method and implementation technology of production structure definition and configuration management to improve PDM systems' applicability, which is expected to offer a solution for vast problems in information management upon enterprise product design.Product Structure Management and Product Configuration Management are also an interface integrated with other application system. The main objective of this dissertation is to overcome the drawbacks of traditional PDMS. This paper studies deeply on three-tier, component-based architecture application, product structure management and configuration management. The results achieved include the following:1. According to the theory and model based on product structure and configuration proposed, the method of product structure and configuration isresearched among which the course of configuration in serials and multi-view management of product structure are emphasized in this paper.2. With the coming of 21th century, manufacturing companies is facing the challenge of little and customizing production, intense competition forced enterprises to adopt advanced technology to enhance their ability of product development. in this circumstance, a method of product configuration based on product model and part family, and utilizing knowledge-base and rule-base is proposed. Applying this method we can resolve the problem of Product Structure management and Product Configuration in distributed and mass-order environment.3. Part Family and Different Views of the Bom is applied to enhance Product Structure Management. Classification of parts can reduce re-design, facilitate search of parts and reusing. Management of Different Views of the Bom can automatically generate different views of the Bom from the product structure to support different disciplines including design, purchasing, manufacturing, and other disciplines.4. After studying product structure and configuration deeply, the design of segmental database is mentioned in brief. The writer emphasizes some modules of product structure and configuration whose functions are summarized in thispaper.
