Product Structure And Configuration Managememt In N-tires PDM System

For the intension of competition in the market, manufacturers require a flexible way in accordance with different customers and organizing production. In order to generalize product and response to customer rapidly, enterprises need to manage product structure information and configuration process using PDM system. This paper researches the product structure and configuration management of PDM system based on the implementing of IntePDM in Chongqing Cummins Engine Company, which is developed by National Engineering Research Center for CAD as a PDM system.The studies are the following:First, analysis the recent research and application in PDM system and product structure and configuration management in PDM system, point out the weakness on the system function, and then introduce an idea to construct PDM system, which is achieve enterprise information intergration through constructing PDM system leaded by product structure and configuration management and organizing the infomation of an enterprise leaded by product information.Sencondly, study the theories and methods of product structure and configuration management detailedly, including subjects such as the three aspects of product structure management, the construction of product platform, the construction of product model, the description of product configuration rules, etc. Then introduce multi-level product configuration based on product model as a configuration method. BOM multi-view and evolvement is also studied.Thirdly, study the architecture of PDM system, and introduce a n-tires architecture PDM system, solve the information integration problem using Web Service technology.Finally, the research achievements of this paper are validated in IntePDM applied in Chongqing Cummins Engine Company, and the conclusion is drowned followed by the anticipations of the research aspects and trend of the PDM.
