The Development Of Journalism Education And Countermeasures In The New Period

China has witnessed the rapid development of journalism education in recent years, and the expansion in short term has inevitably raised some contradictions and problems. Many colleges and universities regard journalism as practical subject with low threshold to enter and easy access to professional teaching program. They have eagerly set up new teaching programs of journalism one after another without mature conditions such as the faculty and teaching facilities. That situation consequently leads to the blind expansion and overheating development in journalism education. Some faculties and departments of journalism in colleges and universities have confused ideas of the conception, the system and the ways of school running as well as the construction of the subjects, the textbooks and the qualified teachers. They've lost contact with reality and could hardly meet the requirements of the development of the cause of journalism. Based on the history of the media practice, this dissertation analyses the regular pattern of development of journalism education in college and universities and the countermeasures to meet the various requirements of the media for persons of ability in the new century.
