Research And Implementation Of Product Structure Management In Product Data Management System

Product Data Management System is a powerful tool which helps product developmentengineers and manufacturing personnel to achieve rapid product development by controllingthe product data and flow process. PDM system maintains a series of data, resources in themanagement of product design and manufacturing process by the way of providingcomputer technical support. The mainline that PDM system makes information managementis product structure and product design, and all information organization and resourcemanagement are unfolding around the product structure.PDM system manages all data and processes associated with product structure, butwith the expansion of business scale and the growing types of product structure, thebusiness types of the enterprise business is also becoming more complex. For the sake ofbeing capable to respond quickly to changes in customer demand and competition in theindustry and the company, manufacturing enterprises put forward higher requirements aboutproduct structure management in their PDM system. As the core functionality of the PDMsystem, product structure management is also the key part of the system. In this article theauthor makes the necessity of the product structure management be a starting point for thestudy of the product structure management, the key algorithms and implementation methodsbe the core of the product structure management, and enhance system performance byrational design and implementation of technology to meet the modern manufacturingenterprise needs.In this paper, the subject comes from the research project that Research andDevelopment of the Product Data Management which has the Collaborative Function forSmall and Medium Sized Auto Parts Manufacturing of Jilin University. The project is on thebackground of the actual business needs of small and medium sized auto partsmanufacturing. Firstly, the author makes a research on the important role of productstructure management in modern manufacturing enterprises, then makes a study on theperformance of existing product structure management module in the PDM, and analyzesthe advantages and disadvantages. The author proposes a management model of productstructure management, through the model to realize structure and configuration management, configure and build a series of products quickly and achieve rapidcombination of product structure and workflow in order to accelerate product design anddevelopment process. This article focuses on the construction of the product structurealgorithms, storage structures, configuration management rule sets, finally, realized thefunctions of product structure management, configuration management, multi-viewmanagement by programming.
