Research On Component-based Product Structure And Configuration Management

Facing the intense market competition and the fast changeable market demand, cooperative design is adopted by more and more enterprises as a new way of product development. Product Data Management(PDM) is a unique technology, which integrates and manages all applications, information and processes in cooperative design. Generally speaking, PDM system has so disadvantages—other characters which do not run as what we wish it to be are reliability, maturity, usability, maintainability, portability and so on. In the paper PDM system was developed by component technology, which on the one hand solved the above problems well, on the other hand supported well CSCD by encapsulating every PDM function module to one component.By analyzing customer demand and the characteristics of C/S architecture and B/S architecture, one kind of PDM architecture model is proposed. On one band, B/S applies in selection, browser, services with little interactive which place is dispersed; on the other hand, to all kind of technical information transparent evoking, edition, processing, output uses C/S pattern.In the foundation, product structure and configuration management, as the most important function module in PDM is thoroughly studied, and product structure management component and product configuration management component have been designed and realized. This thesis introduces the function of product structure management in PDM, has studied the production process of BOM, and has analyzed the problem of uniformity and the endless loop in the production of product structure. By studying configuration management, this paper used direct edition configuration and variant configuration, enabling product configuration to have a bigger flexibility. In variant configuration decision table technology is used to express well configuration rule. Considering the requirement of CSCD, the article discussed the conversion from BOM to XML document, thus BOM data can under cooperative network environment shared and exchanged, and data uniformity and the integrity is guaranteed.The system of product structure and configuration management based on software component was developed and used in CSCD, which solved the problem of product data management and design variance in large-scale complicated product design, enhanced the efficiency of product development and promoted product innovation.
