A editor, who is in the field of social scientific comprehensive periodical, is one of important propagators of advanced culture. It is an important topic that modern periodical editors face how to cultivate their information literacy in order to adjust to the development of modern press in information era, which has a deep effect on the periodical editors. That is, the change of the way to arrange and organize manuscripts, the change of the way to revise and proofread, the change of working way. The periodical editors are required to be qualified for enough information awareness, information knowledge and information ability in the information era.The thesis analyses the current research of periodical editor, states the characteristics of information era, basic concept and features of information literacy, basic accomplishment and information literacy of periodical editors and so on, refers to the theories concerned suggests the ways of improving information literacy of modern periodical editor in the information era. That is, on one hand, making a point of the tradition educates way, developing the ability to organize manuscripts, revise manuscripts, proofread manuscripts, review manuscripts in the process of everyday editorial work. On the other hand, taking advantage of periodicals to establish web to foster information literacy, which can improve popularity of the press, interact between the readers and editors, mobilize the enthusiasm of the press staff. Furthermore, forum can be used fully to foster information literacy, run the press well, organize manuscripts, make comments or seek opinions.Because the author has been engaged in editorial work on education for years and hosted several columns, he has plenty of practical working experience. What's more, he has been concerned about information literacy of periodical editing for a long time. Therefore, the thesis is operative, practicable and suggests the ways of improving information literacy of periodical editors in the information era, in which other periodical editors can use for good reference.
