Today new media is playing a much more powerful role in social life andoffering both changes and challenges to people. Although studies from diverseperspectives generate different ideas, scholars believe that the power of media willcreate a need for new media literacy beyond text.By sharing basic characters with new media and showing its innovations to thecommunication studies, invitational rhetoric offers a new approach to examine medialiteracy. By presenting how the three key concepts of invitational rhetoric (freedom,value and safety) may be employed in editor’s work, this paper proposes theapplication of new media literacy for editors which enables them to work moreefficiently and effectively in using new media and proper words.As a matter a fact, with the rapid development of new media technologies andtools, editors will expected to communicate with the readers in a more interactive way.Therefore, by creating the new media literacy based on invitational rhetoric, editorscan make significant contributions to a better serve for the readers.
