Many editorial offices have established information management system now, but there are limitations of compatibility in using. The importance and practicability of information management system were analyzed. The mode and structure of infor- mation management system were given based on the modern information technology and computer networking technology. There are about 9 000 periodicals and about 6 000 sci-tech periodicals in our country. A monthly periodical published for 28 years was researched in this article. It receives about 1 500 papers and has about 10 000 subscribers every year. The workload of management of papers, authors and subscribers is heavy. For the scientific of management in editorial office, the current situation, analysis of requirement, analysis of feasibility, development environment, design and implementation of system were discussed based on the theory of infor- mation management system development and the method of system construction development. The information management system fit for the periodical was established.The job of periodical editorial office was summarized. The edit and publishing of periodical have the function of collection, editing, managing and promulgate of information. The traditional management made the editorial office hard to communi- cate with authors, readers or experts. The author could not know the format of article, rules to choose the paper, publish scheme and manuscript examination program. The editorial office information management system have many sameness with the other information management system in basic function of information process, expan- dability of system and association of system, but it has the features of large quantity of information, complicated data structure, strict data processing method, high requirement of facticity and accuracy of data. It also has the function of information retrieval. The database of information management system of periodical editorial office was separated to three layers of normal user module, expert and editor module, administrator module based on the standardization of data. The author could contri- bution online with this system and the workload of editorial office could be reduced, the work efficiency of editorial office could be enhanced. The expert could examine manuscript online. The information management system uses browser as interface and uses B/S(Browser/Server) model. The user could visit the web site with Browser directly. Information management was implemented by database technology of ASP.NET and SQL. |
