The regional markets of periodical publishing are coming into shape along with the opening-up and developing market of national scale The Guangdong periodical market, with the scattered and relatively small markets in the whole province and the neighboring middle-and-small cities radiated from the center—Guangzhou and Shenzhen, is making a conspicuous figure. The study of the said markets is not only a thorough review of its development and theories in contemporary time, but also a kind of rational analysis under new circumstances and on different conditions.The methodologies applied in this thesis are theories of mass communication. The general skeleton of the article is constructed in a comprehensive way with a new angle of perceiving the existing concepts of running periodicals. All the analysis comes into three conclusions:The speed of Guangdong periodical publishing development is far exceeding the one of national scale in the time of reform and opening-up, and even the famous town of significant market status—Shanghai in the 1950s.The most immediate cause of the prosperity of Guangdong periodical industry is its commercial culture, while the essential communication concept of periodical publishing is the unique Lingnan culture.There are generally three features of Guangdong periodical publishing concepts: creativity, popularity and commercialization.
