The plans made by customer-oriented ERP system for the whole enterprises hould be executed based on the actual conditions of plants. But there are often some differences between plan smade by planning floor and actual capabilities of plants because of the limits of ERP itself, dynamic characteristics of plants and a lot of undetermined factors in plants. So Manufacturing Execution Systems were created to solve this problem.They are execution-oriented information systems. MES provides the critical link to fill the gap between ERP and control systems. MES can execute automatically production plans made by planning floor, extract the correct information for ERP from collected real-time data. MES enables information systems to be inter-connected with each other closely and production departments to work in harmony.Consequently, enterprises get maximum profits.In this paper, take the MES software development of TGGX-CIMS as background, which analyse the present situation and tendency of domestic and international process industrial CIMS(CIPS), as well as the character of steel rolling enterprise, and bring forward a new three-layer architecture of CIPS: Enterprise electronic system(EES) / Manage information system (MIS) /Manufacturing execution system(MES).This paper analyse the architecture and function of Manufacturing execution system as CIPS core emphatically, and , On the foundation of MESA model,we have adopted a set of MES model to apply to the medium or small enterprise of our country of steel rolling, which compose of two main model : Planning dispatching -factory management and Data collection -handling. At the sametime, it introduces the system structure that connect Fieldbus to the enterprise Intranet and Internet. At last this paper and introduce the whole development course of manufacturing execution system in TangShan steel group high speed wire factory CIMS apply project (TGGX-CIMS) in detail, such as analyse for requirement, preliminarily design, detailed design and implement to project. Offer theoretical guidance for process industrial enterprise to implement advanced production management technology.
