The Development Of A Fieldbus-based Interface Card Based On WorldFIP

The fieldbus technology is the popular technology in the field of industrial measurement and control. It is a completely digital, bi-directional and multiple-branches communication network which connects the intelligent field devices and the automatic system. With the application of fieldbus, the control system is further directed to digitalization, network, distribution and intelligence. WorldFIP is one of the international standards of fieldbus. It is a kind of fieldbus that is used for industrial control. In a framework of single protocol and under the scheduled access control, it can transfer realtime data and random information which are independent. So it is a realtime and predictable fieldbus and it can also be connected to the Internet in the future. What this thesis studies is an interface card based on WorlFIP. It is a PCI card which comply with WorldFIP protocol. It can connect the PCs or stations with the WorldFIP fieldbus. The design of the interface cards contains hardware design and software design. The communication circuit which connects to the WorldFIP is designed using the WorldFIP components(the communication controller FULLFIP2, the medium redundancy management component FIELDUAL, the line driver FIELDRIVE and the isolating transformer FIELDTR). The PCI9054 and other related components are used to implement the interface between the PCI bus and the communication part, and then the host computer can access the WoldFIP fieldbus through PCI bus. Using the communication library FIP DEVICE MANAGER of FULLFIP2 and the driver development toolkit Windriver, the driver which runs in Windows2000 is developed.At last the hardware and the driver of the interface card are debugged. With the interface card and the other WorldFIP devices, a WorldFIP fieldbus network is constructed to test the interface card.
