Level measurement is widely used in process control. Real梩ime monitoring level accurately is important for both manufacture抯 proceeding safely and smoothly, and optimizing in management. In this paper some level measurement ways are discussed firstly. Then according to the developing trends of international level measuring technique & level instrument fields, connection with the research state of level measurement techniques & level instrument in our country, in order to meet the needs of measuring the level of half-compounded antibiotic refining tanks of a medicine-made corporation in Hebei province, this paper is the first to put forward a design scheme of a new sensor which is based on the principle of cascading differential transformer. Monitoring system is also designed in this paper. The system includes work-fields level measurer, upper managing system computer. The work-field level measurer uses this new type sensor. The following five parts are mainly concerned in this paper: 1. Based on the analysis of traditional differential transformer, the new type of sensor is analyzed qualitatively, its structural design scheme is discussed in detail, at last the sensor has been madepractically. 2. The sensor抯 signal-processing circuit is designed. The circuit抯 simulation is accomplished by circuit simulation program WORKBENCH. The circuit board has also been made and adjusted successfully. 3. In order to realize testing and control automatically, 8031 single-board computer is introduced into the work-field measurer. The measurer has such functions: 1) Counting the equivalent pulses reversibly, which is put out by the previous signal-processing circuit; 2) Data processing; 3) Result displaying; 4) Communication with the upper system computer; 5) Man-machine interaction; 6) Danger alarming. 4. A program is designed by Visual Basic language for the upper system computer to communicate with the work-fields measurers. In order to made the upper system computer抯 sending data frame same as the work-field measurer抯 receiving data frame, the seventh data of one sending word is set manly. A friendly man-machine interactive interface is also designed by Visual Basic II language. 5. In the end a study on improving measurement accuracy and reducing the measurement errors has been made for the first step.
