Power system is a basic industry which has the direct bearing on economy and people’slivelihood, its safe running is very important, the safe operation of power equipment itself is oneof the most important aspects to influence the running of power system safety. And iftransformer who is the main electrical equipment in power system has a accident once, it willcause serious loss and need a long time to repair. For a long time, there have some ways tomaintain transformer in substation, there are breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenanceand schedule maintenance, which have inevitable disadvantages. With the development of powersystem,condition based maintenance has become a trend. So on-line monitoring system emergesas the times require, therefore, there is great significance to the power grid with transformercondition real time monitoring been carried on.However, in the existing substation integrated automation system communication is throughthe cable media generally, such as wire, cable and so on. But communication media had beenlimited through physical field connection, and there are lots of equipments and signals insubstation, line layout and change is not easy, neither does upgrade, expansion, install andmaintenance. This made it inconvenience to arrange wires, check up and maintenance, as well ashigh cost, so to develop a kind of wireless electric power equipment on-line monitoring and faultearly warning system to ensure the safe and stable operation of power equipment and reducemonitoring equipment cost, improve the level of automation substation has importantsignificance.This paper develops a kind of transformer real-time monitoring system using wirelessnetwork technology, which avoids those disadvantages, it also reduces the monitoring costgreatly, has very high promotion value. This paper does the overall design work according tothe actual situation in the substation,combined with the wireless sensor network’s basic structureand design demands of the monitoring system. The system includes three types of networknode: coordinator node, router nodes and terminal node. The system do the data collection workof transformer running state through the terminal nodes deployed in the monitored area. Therouter nodes can make the communication distance and the coverage area of the network thoughdata switching. Data collected by terminal nodes will transmit to coordinator node finallythrough the wireless sensor network, Then the gathered data will be sent to PC through a serialport, Thus to complete real-time monitoring of the transformer running state in the substation. Inthe hardware design part, do the hardware selection work about wireless sensor network node,chosen the new system-on-chip solution CC2530as the main control chip, instructed the main circuit design of each node in detail, especially to the signal acquisition circuit part of terminalnode. It realized the circuit design of temperature sensor DS18B20and MQ-8series hydrogensensor. In the software design part, it studied the ZigBee protocol stack Z-Stack’s structuredeeply, did a lot of work about the function on each layer of the protocol stack and it’sre-development. It realized the transceiver of monitoring data and has compiled sensor signalacquisition program of temperature sensor DS18B20and MQ-8series hydrogen sensor,achieved the collection of data signal. How to use ZigBee wireless sensor network technology asan application in operation of transformer state information monitoring in substation is the maincontent of this paper, and also is the innovation points.In addition to the above content, a good man-machine interface as an informationinteraction link between computers and human, has become an indispensable and importantcomponent in an automation integrated system. In order to achieving the transformer real-timemonitoring of running state, this paper uses LabVIEW software designed and developed ahuman-computer interface, to display data information collected through the wireless sensornetwork. The monitoring interface has the curve shows, acousto-optic fault alarm and datastorage functions, people can know the actual operation condition of the transformer timelythrough it. The monitoring interface design part includes the landing interface and it’s programdesign, the start interface and it’s program design, the main panel interface it’s and programdesign, the serial communication program design, the transformer monitoring interface and it’sprogram design and the program design about report generation. The paper introduces thespecific process to design and develop the human-computer interface of the transformer runningstatus monitoring system use NI LabVIEW software, and describes in detail to some of theimportant link of the design method.At the end of the article, some related experiments about the monitoring syetem oftransformer running status based on wireless sensor network were taken, to verificate thesecurity, stability and feasibility of the system. Including wireless networking experiment, dataacquisition and transceiver experiment, monitoring interface operation experiment and the test ofdata filing. Through the experimental results and data, it has proved the monting syetem oftransformer running status based on wireless sensor network designed by this article canacquisition monitoring data accurately, the condition of wireless sensor network networking iswell, the collected data information can transfer to the receiving end through the wireless sensornetwork security, the LabVIEW monitoring interface is also running in good condition, allfunctions are working properly. The whole monitoring system operated safety and stable, hassatisfied the requirement of design.
