The Clinical Applied Research With JIN'S 3-Needle Therapy In Treating Autism Children

Objective: To study the impact of clinical efficacy of "Jin' 3-needle therapy" and special intervention in autism children by prospective controlled study in comparison, and also to evaluate the different effects of different TCM type, different ages, different severity of autistic between the two methods.Methods: 202 cases of autism children were divided into 2 groups by the parent's desire .The acupuncture group got 118 cases ,whom were treated by "Jin' 3-needle therapy" chiefly with head-points , once a day, six times a week , four months as an observation period . The intervention group got 84 cases, whom were trained by the special school, once a day, six times a week , four months as an observation period . The effect of the two groups were evaluated by CARS .Results: After 1 period of treatment, comparing the two groups ,①Overall effect: After 1 period of treatment, the total effective rate and efficacy levels compared with the two groups, P <0.001, there were significant differences. Controlling the differentiation of TCM types, age mixed factors, comparing the overall effects of the two groups (logistic regression analysis), P <0. 001, there were significant differences. Comparing CARS total margin of the two groups, P <0. 001, there were significant differences. All those facts revealed that the effect of the acupuncture group is better than the intervention group.②The melioration of clinical symptoms: After 1 period of treatment, the total scores of CARS descended in both groups. Comparing all indicators of CARS scale, except the imitation and the ability of the body(P> 0.1),the remaining, P<0.05, there were significant differences between the acupuncture group and the intervention group . The acupuncture group is better than the control group in most of the indicators.③The effect of different TCM types: Comparing the effect of the two groups (grades) and total margin of CARS, except the TCM type of Shenjing deficiency, the other 3 types , P <0. 01, a statistically significant difference.④The effect of different ages: According to the age-layered, comparing the efficacy levels and CARS total margin with the two groups, all the three age groups, P <0.05, there were significant differences between the two groups . According to the age-layered, comparing the different severity of autistic, P<0. 001, there were significant differences between the two groups .The acupuncture group is better than the intervention group. After one period's treatment, comparing the total effective rate of all three age groups in each group respectively , P>0.1, there were no significant differences. Comparing the total margin of CARS scores of all three age groups in acupuncture group or intervention group respectively, there were no significant difference in the acupuncture group , P>0.05, but significant difference in the intervention group , P<0.01. Then , comparing the total margin of CARS scores with any two age groups in intervention group, there were significant difference between "3—years old " and "6-years old", and there was no difference between any two of the remaining age.⑤The effect of different severity: According to the severity-layered, the result of comparing the effective rate, efficacy levels and the total margin of CARS between the two groups is that, the acupuncture treating the severest type is much better than the intervention group , P <0.001, a statistically significant difference.Conclusion: There are significant effects in treating children autism with JIN'S 3-Needle Therapy on the overall , or on the layered analyse . JIN' S 3-Needle Therapy has better effects on the improvement of efficacy levels, CARS scores and most clinical symptoms , also higher rate of the total effective than the special intervention. According to the TCM-layered, JIN'S 3-Needle Therapy showed a favorable therapeutic efficacy in all the differentiation of TCM types , especially in the stagnation of Gang-Qi , the excessive activity of Xin and Gang , the phlegm jammed in Xin-organ . According to the age-layered, JIN'S 3-Needle Therapy has efficacy in all the three age groups, and the efficacy is not related to the age differentiation .According to the severity-layered, JIN'S 3-Needle has effect in all severity kinds of autism, with the most notable improvement in the severest type.
