Hospital is the main strength of health service organization in our country, undertaking the important mission of protecting people's health. Along with market economy gradually build up, exterior environment and internal mechanisms of hospital all take place a deep change and the director's function becomes more important. But health human resource management of our country becomes disjointed with realistic circumstance. Government can't select and develop enough directors of high level. Many directors can't adapt the demand of situation, influencing our country the progress of health reform and development.Competency evaluation method is a hot point of human resource manage research field in recent years. Comparing to traditional human resource manage, the human resource management system based on competency estimates performance more accurate and be easier to application. According to the competency theory and practical experience abroad ,the problems above can be resolved by building up system of competency model of hospital director. Therefore, we develop competency research in health system for the first time, carrying out behavior event interview of 24 hospital directors. The main conclusion of research is as follows:(1)The frequency, average grade score and tallest grade score all have high stability. But average grade, tallest grade score of competency can distinguish excellent and general hospital director better than frequency .(2)The competency model system of hospital director in our country includes the traits of excellent hospital directors, the traits of all the hospital directors and the competency dictionary of hospital directors.
