| Since the beginning of the reform and opening-up in China, the project of highereducation has improved constantly, and the number of the students has also increasedquickly. But at the same time, the increase of the campus's area couldn't keep up withthe increase of the student's number. This resulted in the increase of the person densityin campus, and produced some high density campus. In high density campus, out-doorspace is an important components in education system. It provides space for thecommunion among the students, and can improve the student's character. So,research the usage of the out-door space in high density campus and analyze it will bevery meaningful to the high density campus designers.This thesis is composed of four parts: Background research——》Investigation——》Analysis——》Proposal.The first part was background research. It included: narrating the background ofthis thesis, listing interrelated literatures, describing the research method, explainingcorrelative concept.The second part was field survey. This part included three levels. Firstly,explained why chose Tongji University as the deputy of high density campus. Secondly,made the whole campus image investigation, and voted out the space that the out-dooractivities mostly centralized in. Thirdly, investigated these space one by one.The third part was analyzing the problem of the out-door space in high densitycampus. These problems included: the lack of out-door space, the peculiarity ofout-door activities, the person density level in campus, the users' opinion, theconnection between traffic area and activity area, the density level of activity content,the time rule of person density in campus, traffic problem.The fourth part, based on former research, I proposed several references to thedesigning of the out-door space in high density campus. The proposal had two aspects.Firstly, increased the efficiency of using campus land. Secondly, improved the qualityof out-door space in high density campus.
