In the environment of economy development and technology advancement, motor mould production has gradually become individual and various, which makes job-shop production management complicated. Nowadays, in our country's manufacturing enterprises of motor mould, there are so many existing problems in job-shop production management that an advanced management idea and an effective system are imminently demanded to manage the Job-shop production. Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a real-time information system oriented to job-shop execution layer and a bridge to connect scheming management layer with production controlling layer. It emphasizes the optimization for the whole production process. E-kanban is a key module of MES and can advance the capability of production process control in the job-shop, so it has a great significance for constructing MES and optimizing the job-shop production flow. Therefor, it is important to study MES and especially to study E-kanban which is favorable to advance efficiency of production management, to enhance the benefit and to upgrade the competition of the enterprise.In this paper, the framework of MES is studied in the industry background of mould manufacturing, and the technology and realization of e-kanban are emphasized to study.First of all, in this paper, based on the analysis and contrast between MRP II and JIT representative management modes, it is brought forward which is an organically integrated and new production management mode. Then the framework of MES oriented to motor mould production is established, and some points are expatiated on basic idea of E-kanban in MES. And they establish a base of theory for more analysis and design.Secondly, in this paper, operation flow of E-kanban is analyzed, the function models and communication models in E-kanban system are designed by adopting IDEF modeling method, and the key technologies of E-kanban system are studied, which are information collection of Job-shop, production task control based on e-kanban, information integration between E-kanban and ERP etc. They establish a steady base for the realization of system.Finally, by means of adopting B/S mode and Visual Studio. Net instrument, E-kanban system which is within MES is developed, which includes tasking management based on e-kanban, material-fetching management based on e-kanban, information collection of job-shop, statistical analysis of the production etc. They have provided a good platform to develop production management in job-shop.
