Study On Design And Application Of Kanban Management System In Tektronix

Kanban management is the key conception of Toyota production systems and it’s the visualization tool of lean production. Normally, Kanban applies to the stable production environment and steady demand production model and it’s a big challenge to apply Kanban system under high-mix low-volume production model. It’s should consider variability during production process and influence of unstable demand and establish compensation mechanism. This paper has combined introduction of lean production system in Tektronix with latest scientific management theory. Kanban management system has been done thorough researches.Firstly this paper elaborated background and fundamental principles of Kanban management. It also discussed the premise and ground rules before Kanban setup, analyzed present situation and existed problems in Tektronix. It has established a Kanban management system that combined current ERP system – Oracle EBS and lean production, applied to the characteristics of high-mix production model.This system is not only applied to the normal Kanban material control, but also has the control mechanism of Kanban material for the unstable demand and special situation, such as adopt reasonable safety stock, import temporary spike card and deal with ECO materials. At last, it has analyzed the improvements and problems after Kanban implementation in Tektronix, developed improving methods such as enhance Kanban system training, strengthen the interior assessment of Kanban relevant departments and optimization of supplier base.Tektronix has toned down its inventory level, improved on-time delivery rate and leveling production through the implementation of Kanban management system. These offer certain experience of Kanban management system implementation in the similar manufacturing companies.
