With the development of automobile industry and road transportation, traffic accident has become a serious problem in the world. Especially in China, the increasing number of the automobile not only makes the traffic accident occurrence rate increased but also brings our society the tremendous disaster and economic loss. So it is urgent and necessary to research the traffic accident reconstruction. In all accidents, the car-to-car collision accident is the most serious one.Firstly, some studies and progresses in this field are reviewed and the characters of traditional vehicle collision models are introduced and summed up. Secondly, based on the former theoretical introduction, the plane vehicle collision model is analyzed in details. By combining the plane impact theory and the technology of computer, a new vehicle collision model is set up. In this model, spin kinetic energy and plastic deformation are considered together. Through measuring plastic deformation of the car after an accident and using deformation energy grid, theenergy loss is gained as a known input data. Therefore, the number of indeterminacy parameters is decreased and its calculation precision is improved. At last, based on the new model and movement model after collision, a program is written and the whole process of vehicle collision was simulated in this paper. The analysis of some actual accident cases shows that the new impact model is correct and valid. Accordingly, establishment of this new collision model and application of the program can provide a scientific tool and method for the verdict and analysis of road traffic accident.
