The search of bird resource in Shanghai started from the 20's in last century, With the development for over half a century, The achievement on the research of bird resources in Shanghai area is mainly proved by the"Shanghai Bird Resource and Its Habitat"written by Huang Zhengyi in 1990's and"Shanghai Land Wildlife Resources"written by Yu Kuai in 2004 etc. The hotspot of bird research in Shanghai has always been the bird species, quantity, distribution, etc. As Shanghai is located in the coastal areas, abundant Charadriiformes and Anseriformes resources have become the characteristic of Shanghai wetlands bird resources. Therefore, waterfowl research has become important focus on bird research in Shanghai. But there is less research on birds which survival in farmland and hilly habitats of suburb. We spent two year to survey the bird resource in Shanghai suburb, and we added farmland and hilly bird resources research.The survey updated the bird resources in three types of bird habitat, and selected 36 species of birds to draw distribution maps in Shanghai suburb. This research enriches the content of bird resource in Shanghai, also gives an overall conclusion which fills the blank area of bird research in Shanghai.The investigation of suburb bird resources started from October 2008 to November 2010. According to previous documents and my research results, I've done the jobs as follows:1. Recorded 125 bird species which belong to 37 families 16 orders in Shanghai suburb, and we selected 36 representative birds in suburb to describe.2. Analyzed bird resources use in Shanghai suburb, and raised the corresponding protection measures.3. Improved the shanghai suburb birds keys.
