Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of client demographic characteristics (gender, race, age, psychiatric disability) and service variables (adjustment, business and vocational training, maintenance, on-the-job training, placement and transportation) with the rehabilitation outcome of persons with mental retardation. The two criterion variables were closure status and weekly earnings. A series of multiple linear regression and logistic regression analyses were performed to examine the relationship between the predictor and criterion variables.; One predictor variable, placement services, had a significant positive relationship with closure status and two predictor variables, business and vocational training and maintenance, had a significant positive relationship with weekly earnings. The former finding suggested that clients who received placement services were more likely to achieve “successful rehabilitation” (closure status 26) than those who do not. The latter findings suggested that those clients who received business and vocational training and maintenance earned higher weekly earnings than those who did not.
