Sustainable development is a brand new development road people selected after deep-going reflection in face of three global problems, i.e. population, resources, and environment. Mineral resources, as an important material basis for the sustainable development of human society, play an essential role in economic construction and social development. Mineral resources in China are confronted with a severe challenge when supporting the sustainable development of society and economy. Dynamic evaluation and research on mineral resources are of important theoretical and practical significance in terms of improving mineral resources development, utilization, and management level, increasing mineral resources’ supporting capacity and guarantee level, and providing scientific and effective approaches and suggestions to implement sustainable development strategy in mining industry in China.On the basis of sustainable development theory, this paper systematically has discussed the index system of dynamic evaluation of mineral resources, technical and economic evaluation methods, indexes and influential factors of deposit, essential theories and methods of geostatistics with reference to the current status of mineral resource of China. It adopts geostatistics,3D analogues and technical&economic methods, with Zijinshan Gold Mine as the example, to research the dynamic evaluation of mineral reserves and the industrial index optimization of deposit. The main research results of the paper are presented in five aspects as follows:1. The significance of dynamic evaluation on sustainable development of mineral industry has been verified through the illustration on the various theories and influential factors concerned and analysis on the problems in determining deposit industry indexes and implementation practices. The paper points out that the indexes are dynamic and varied with the market and technical&economic situation. Proper optimizing of indexes is the cardinal guarantee to the effective protection and reasonable development of mineral resources and the efficient utilization of resource to realize the sustainable development.2. The geostatistic methods and advanced mineral softwares are adopted to build3D math geologic model of Zijinshan gold mine for the purpose of grade evaluation and resources/reserves evaluation. It facilitates accurate and visual recognition to the orebody configuration and space distribution, exhibits the space distribution and variation rules of ore grades and provides calculation parameters (such as deposit industry index) varied with market and information feedback which allows re-evaluation of resource, high accuracy of value and, as the result, dynamic evaluation of resource. This provides reliable technical support to the dynamic management of production in the mine and improvement of economic benefit and resource utilization.3. By3D math geologic model of deposit, the accurate valuating to each stoped block becomes possible. With the help of it, the optimized open pit boundary is adjusted immediately with the variation of product price, production cost and technical indexes, providing effective guideline to the mine construction and production, reducing the production cost and loss of depletion, minimizing the resource waste and environment pollution. It establishes solid foundation for the enterprise of energy saving and few impact to environment.4. On the basis of completed3D math geologic model, the dynamic technical and economic evaluation methods like NPV, internal rate of return of incremental investment and production value method are used to optimize the industrial indexes of Zijinshan Gold Mine. By the analysis and comparison on5options, the cut-off grade0.5g/t for industrial ore, cut-off grade0.2g/t for low-grade ore are determined. This realized the dynamic optimization and management of deposit indexsystem and increased the gold resource volume from original5.45t to183t (stoped-out amount being deducted), which has improved significantly the economic value of deposit and benefit of enterprise.5. The foreign classification standards of mineral resources and reserves are studied systematically and some highly-concerned issued are discussed in the paper. On the basis of comparison on traditional classification of resources and reserves, the geostatistics method (minimum sample numbers and maximum search distance) is selected to classify the mineral resourced and reserves of Zijinshan Gold Mine which is proved satisfying.
