Within an isolated island, with the population twenty-three million, Taiwan obtains upto 7 chennels which release TV news for twenty-four hours so that we consume this county properly has the highest density of TV news chennels. Originally, the year in 1991, Taiwan government issued permission of the cable TV sets, which apperently altered the situation of media ruled by political party, politics and military. However, instead of promoting the multiple content of media expectedly, a rapidly increasing number of chennels generated nothing but single " homogenous news." Consequently, critics from public mainly indicated that media equalled to social disorder. The critical trends of homogenous press have made citizens receive non-diverse message, which results in a deflective unreality damaging the basic demand of multiple voice in democratic society. In addition, the deflection, which is an imbalance of information in media, causes not only the unbalance of medium industry in Taiwan, but also leads to the crisis of social phenomenon. This essay will focus on the inspecting and analyzing the homogeneity of TV news, which bases on the theories of media ecology, and deconstruct what ecological impact caused by TV news to information, media and society. In the first chapter, I mainly indicate the medium pattern-reserching the relationship of homogeneity via the "dimension of organization", such as the industrial construction of media ecology, regulations and marketing and how the news can be " homogenized." Six selected TV news sets in our reserch belong to "marketing-guiding" commerical TV sets. The features of these six channels are presumed as the commerical TV sets which persuit profit a top priority rather than public social benefits, so that the public issues are edged out of the news sets, and than a "new" pattern of TV news is formed gradually. In this case, the adminstrators of media constantly ignore the social responsibility due to a lack of creative ambition. In addition, a reserch of how homogeneity effects the "dimension of carrer" in chapter two, including a swarm of producing, interaction among journalists(press-copying) and gambling. A swarm of news producing results from journalists’ inertia which happens on the process of material gathering, editing and news releasing. Meanwhile, a flock of homogenous exclusive news generated from reporters’ s interaction and “Mechanism of Information Exchange” makes useless information widely spread nationwise. What’s more, a highly dependance between journalists and news resource weaken the monitorial ability of media. As to outer media industry, how audience ratings, new dissemination technology and TPV, which results in a competitive marketing and commericals, affect the phenomenon of homogeneity can be explained via the "systematic dimension" in Chapter three. For TV sets, audience ratings is seen as the index of production leading the “Market Driven” and reporters producing behaviour; the innovation of dissemination technology constantly impacts the news generation, regulations and process. Furthermore, the severe competition among different business sectors causes a maximum profit chasing instead of being responsible for this society. In chapter four, to realize the imbalance environment of TV news industry in Taiwan, we mainly monitor how the deviation, which results from the homogeneity of TV news, seriously impact this industrial ecology. The inside-out symptom of sickness seems to combine with the outer competitive environment to make TV news industry imbalanced entirely. In Chapter five, via media-balanced viewpoint, to analyze the media ecology crisis caused by imbalanced message onTV sets. An extreme impact on human’s production and life results from the imbalanced original pattern, inner pattern and outer pattern on TV sets. Three major crisis has been found by this reserch: first, the shrinking of the forth estate. Senond, the decline of public sphere. Third, media retardation. As to what TV sets suffering with the ecology crisis, this study stands on the viewpoint of ecologic balance to propose the way back to finding balanced standard: A. Equality, to implement institutional construction-“accountability system”. B. creation, to break loose from the control of audience ratings; discover new “Niche”. C. promotion, cultivate the education of media consciouness and system of citizen’s inspection. D. diversity, to avoid vicious competition by divided strategy of “Niche”.This essay primarily focuses on analyzing the information imbalance which results from homogeneity of TV sets in Taiwan and the TV media ecology crisis caused by imbalanced information ecology. The conclusion of this thesis is benefital for news industry to improve the homogeneith on TV in Taiwan, then to remove the crisis of the entire media ecology, and to complete the media environment in Taiwan.
