| Narrating is the central activity in media's usual operation. The pressure coming from ideology and economy will impact the media in narrating. In the field of TV news narrating study, the researchers usually commit themselves to the texts of TV news. They pay more attention to the skills of narrating (such as the relation between voice and video), the form of narrating (such as the form of program). But this kind of researching method only study text isolated. Though the text is the final presentation of the narrating activity, but we can't discover the social factors and power which affect the formation of text. So I introduce the research method and theory of media ecology to the field of TV news narrating studying, call for paying more our attention to the narrating process and the circumstance in which text is composed. Through the observation and participation to the TV news producing, I draw the conclusion that the factors impacting the narrating involve inner media ecology and outer media ecology. The former is consisted of television technique, program's orientation, narrator's professional level and their value orientation. The latter is consisted of media system, the activities of other news media and social context.The primary theories which are used in this project come from two fields: one of them is media ecology, the other is narrating theory. I used the media ecology theory as the methodology and epistemology in this study. The narrating theory provides system of concepts and analyzing tool, such as text, event, narrator, construction and function, for the research of TV news'text analysis and narrating discourse. The primary research methods of this project involve observation, depth interview and text analysis. I chose two influencial TV news programs("news probe"and"focus interview") in Chinese TV news field to observe. In this process, anthropology's research method was introduced in it. I observed these programs'narrating activities in the angle of observer's view, registered what I saw and heard, and interviewed the producers. All of these work lasted for half a year. In addition, what I observed in Yunnan TV news center, in the special program producing about"the reforming of culture industry", in the studying project (the reforming of current Chinese radio and television news) which was responsible by my instructor also provided precious first-hand information for my PhD. We can't get these information only by texts analysis. In this article, the influence to the TV news'narrating coming from media ecology was descript in chronological order and at the same time. In the process of analyzing TV news'narrating characters,I studied some kinds of narrating phenomenon.This article is composed by six parts: the chapter 1 introduces the research motivation, the value and significance, existing research results, research framework and research methods. The chapter 2 is about the two theoretical systems which were used in this article. They paved the way for the following writing. The chapter 3 ( the relations between inter factors and TV news'narrating), analyzed the factors which composed the inner TV news ecology, then stated the inner ecology factors'role in the TV news narrating. I discussed the relations about three groups, including the relation between technique and narrating, the relation between programs'orientation and narrating, the relation between narrators'conservation and narrating. The chapter 4 discussed the outer factors'influence to the news narrating, it also composed by the relations about three groups, including the relations between media system and news'narrating, between other news media'reports and TV news narrating, between social background and news narrating. Chapter 5 descript the new narrating phenomena in today's media ecology. The last chapter anticipated the developing trend of TV news'media ecology, then expected the prospects of TV news narrating characters.
