Objective:To describe the situation of professional attitude, self-esteem and social adaptation of nursing undergraduate and college students in institution of higher education in Jilin Province. To investigate the effect of self-esteem and social adaptation on professional attitude of nursing undergraduate and college students. To define the difference of professional attitude, self-esteem and social adaptation in general demographic characteristics. To explain clearly the relationship among professional attitude, self-esteem and social adaptation of nursing students in institution of higher education in Jilin Province.Methods:Convenience sampling method was used to investigate five nursing institutions of higher education in Jilin Province.980 questionnaires were handed out, excluding incomplete questionnaires and questionnaires with all options having the same answer, then there were 953 valid questionnaires left. Research tool includes four parts:demographic data, professional attitude scale, self-esteem scale, social adjustment scale. Data collected were statistically analyzed by SPSS13.0 statistical software.Results:(1) The total score of nursing students, professional attitude in institution of higher education in Jilin Province were (5.32â– 1.20), nursing students, professional attitude was neutral tending to be positive.62.1 percent of them thought that not all persons were suitable for nursing care,61.8 percent of them believed that wisdom, strength and love were needed to be a nurse, and 47.1 percent believed that nursing was an independent discipline and should be continuously enriched by high-level nursing talents. In this survey,47 percent of nursing students thought that the attitude to nursing of most of nursing teachers was quite positive,44.3 percent thought that the attitude to nursing of most of nursing students was quite positive, too,36 percent of nursing students quite agreed that nursing was regarded the same important as other professionals in schools. With the development of nursing disciplines and the improvement of the educational background as a whole, the degree of the attention paid to nursing was improved so the professional attitude of nursing students overall become active. (2) In institution of higher education in Jilin Province, nursing students, professional attitude and total self-esteem, general self-esteem of social orientation, special self-esteem of personal orientation, special self-esteem of social orientation were positively correlated. Professional attitude and learning adaptation, future adaptation, environmental adaptation, psychological adjustment, interpersonal adjustment were positively correlated. The total self-esteem, general self-esteem of social orientation, special self-esteem of personal orientation, special self-esteem of social orientation and learning adaptation, future adaptation, environmental adaptation, psychological adjustment, interpersonal adjustment were positively correlated.Conclusion:(1) The total score of nursing students, professional attitude in institution of higher education Province Showed neutral and tend to be positive.(2) Nursing students, professional attitude and self-esteem, social adaptation were positively correlated.(3) Nursing students, professional attitude was related to the educational background, grades, professional choice.(4) Nursing students, self-esteem, social adaptation were related to grades, professional choice, whether he or she served as a student leader or not, and the place where the students came from.
