Research On Digital Economy Promoting Industrial Structure Optimization And Upgrading

Digital economy is widely used in all aspects of our economic life.The unique high permeability and innovation of digital technology has given birth to new models and new forms of business,such as intelligent manufacturing,e-commerce,network broadcast,virtual reality,and gradually enriched industrial levels and industrial content.The digital economy has become a "new engine" that drives the high quality development of our country and even the world economy.The level of its development also reflects the comprehensive strength of a country.China,the United States,France,Germany,Canada,India and other countries have identified the development of digital economy as the focus of their economic development strategies.In the 2022 Government Work Report,Premier Li Keqiang stressed the importance of "promoting the development of digital economy and strengthening the overall layout of the construction of digital China." In March of the same year,the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,the Yangtze River Delta,Ningxia,Guizhou,Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and other eight places started to establish national computing hub nodes,planning the construction of 10 national data center clusters,the "east to West" project officially and fully launched.Through the analysis of the existing literature,it is found that domestic and foreign scholars basically maintain the same views on the positive promoting effect of digital economy on the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure.However,most researches focus on the study on the influence mechanism of digital economy on traditional industries.The research conclusion is that digital economy can promote the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries by transforming the existing organizations of enterprises and optimizing the industrial structure.Entering the Internet era,the rapid popularization and application of digital economy in China has provided conditions for the study of digital economy.Domestic scholars have begun to try to analyze whether digital economy can promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure.Existing studies have shown that the sustainable development of Chinese digital economy can drive the industrial structure to the medium-high level.We should continue to carry out digital transformation of the three industries in a hierarchical and step-by-step manner,and introduce measures to support the cultivation of emerging industries.This will strengthen the core driving force for the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure in all aspects.Based on existing studies,in order to explore the influence mechanism of digital economy on industrial structure,this paper collects panel data of 30 provinces(municipalities)from 2013 to 2020 as samples,uses principal component analysis method to synthesize digital economy development level index as explanatory variable,and industrial structure optimization and upgrading as explained variable.Economic development level,per capita retail sales of consumer goods,per capita import and export and foreign direct investment were selected as control variables,and the samples were grouped according to the eastern,central and western regions.Then,the threshold regression model is established,starting from the three threshold variables of urbanization level and human capital quality innovatively,so as to verify whether there is nonlinear threshold effect in the influence mechanism of digital economy on industrial structure optimization and upgrading.The findings are as follows: first,from a nationwide perspective,digital economy has a significant role in promoting the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure;Second,from a regional perspective,digital economy has different effects on the industrial structure of eastern,central and western regions,with the largest effect in the central region,followed by the western region and the least effect in the eastern region.Third,the three threshold variables all have a single threshold effect on the promotion of industrial structure optimization and upgrading by digital economy,and with the rapid development of the development level of digital economy,urbanization level and human capital quality,there is a phenomenon of diminishing marginal returns in the process of industrial structure optimization and upgrading.According to the above conclusions,in order to give full play to the role of digital economy in promoting industrial structure,this paper puts forward the following countermeasures: first,vigorously develop digital economy and improve the development level of digital economy,especially in the central and western regions;Second,promote digital technology innovation and build digital technology development system;Third,promote the integrated development of digital economy and traditional industries to optimize and upgrade the industrial structure;Fourth,establish the governance system of digital economy and create a good environment to promote the development of digital economy.Fifth,rationally plan the development layout of digital economy.The main contributions of this paper are as follows: first,explore the impact of digital economy on industrial structure,and provide theoretical support for the digital economy to promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure;Secondly,12 digital economy related indicators are selected to construct the core explanatory variables of digital economy by using principal component analysis method to comprehensively measure the development level of digital economy,which is more convincing for this study.Thirdly,the "law of diminishing marginal returns" of digital economy is established,and there is nonlinear influence phenomenon.Building threshold model to test the threshold effect of digital economy promoting industrial structure optimization and upgrading,more detailed conclusions can be drawn.
