In early 2020,COVID-19 swept the world,plunging humanity into a serious crisis.Since the beginning of the outbreak,China has always given top priority to the safety of people’s lives and health,and joined forces with various departments to fight the epidemic and effectively cut off the chain of transmission of the virus.The fact that the epidemic was contained in such a short period of time is not only due to the great attention and prompt action of the country,but also due to the news and propaganda work of main media.How did the media organize their news discourses so that the masses could unite and work together to fight the epidemic? This question has a very high research value and is also the research opportunity of this paper.In order to answer this question,this paper selected the news comments which can evidently express opinions and ideas,and took all the news comments related to the COVID-19 from People’s Daily micro-blog(2020-2021)as the specific research object.Based on the theoretical results of discourse analysis by Fairclough and other scholars,content analysis and discourse analysis would be carried out on the 335 news comments,so as to interpret the discourse characteristics behind the comments and provide some reference for public opinion guidance of public health emergencies.According to the research,People’s Daily micro blog emphasized the danger and urgency of COVID-19 in terms of its vocabulary choice,rhetoric use and text coherence,and tried to make the audience conform to the text thinking through various means to accumulate strength for the fight against the epidemic.In the discourse practice,those comments quoted authoritative direct speech to increase the authority of text.Moreover,the use of non-authoritative indirect speech could reduce the ambiguity of the text and further highlight the coder’s intention.Meanwhile,the intertext of various styles and genres also made the overall comment present a vivid and serious feeling.In terms of social practice,People’s Daily micro blog had actively performed its role as a "mouthpiece",not only setting a lot of attribute agendas,but also using a large number of emotional symbols to guide the public’s emotion,which not only guided the fight against the epidemic,but also faithfully recorded the era of fighting against the epidemic.On the whole,People’s Daily’s micro blog had a significant agenda setting and involves a broad and deep range of topics.The overall tone is mainly positive judgment,singing the main theme and sticking to the position of public opinion,setting a good example for other media. |
