| This study focuses on the vaccination reports of People's Daily from January 1,1978 to December 31,2021.On the basis of discourse theory,this study specifically studies the changes of "vaccination" discourse,especially by referring to Van Dijk's news discourse analysis model.This study answers two questions,including “what changes are present” and “why did it change”.There are four chapters in this study: the first chapter is the concept definition and theoretical basis,the second and third chapters are the analysis part of this study,which is divided into content analysis and discourse analysis,and the fourth chapter is the conclusion part,and this part provides answers to the research questions.In chapter 1,this study defines three important concepts,namely,news discourse,discourse change and vaccination report.News discourse is defined as a form of social practice carried out by journalists acting as coders and representatives by using language;This paper defines discourse change as the change and transfer of a social practice of language use,and then briefly introduces Van Dijk's news discourse theory and its analytical model.The second chapter is the content analysis part of this research.A total of 223 reports on vaccine vaccination were collected in this study.According to the characteristics of the samples,the samples were classified into three categories: "safety","scientific" and "humane".Two analysis units of vaccine quality and safety interpretation and vaccination safety supervision were constructed under the safety dimension.In the scientific dimension,two analysis units were constructed,namely,the specific content involved in the popularization of vaccine-related knowledge and the use of persuasive strategies for the dissemination of vaccine-related knowledge.In the humanitarian dimension,three analysis units were constructed,namely,vaccination price,vaccination population and vaccination region,on which related categories were constructed.According to the quantitative statistics of the study,the reports from the dimensions of safety,science and humanity have undergone many subtle changes in each period.For example,the vaccine safety supervision and vaccine science popularization in the reports have been greatly strengthened,and the humanization trend has also been reflected.Chapter three is the discourse analysis part of this research.Based on the results of content analysis and the specific background of the development of China's immunization cause,news discourse analysis is conducted in stages according to Van Dijk's news discourse analysis model.The first stage is from 1978 to 2002,the second stage is from2003 to 2008,the second stage is from 2009 to 2018,and the fourth stage is from 2019 to2021.Through analysis,it is found that the macro structure of "vaccination discourse" in People's Daily is gradually complex,the consistency of discourse is constantly weakened,and the implied meaning of discourse is constantly increasing.Chapter four is the last chapter of this study.Being founded on the results of previous analysis,I conclude the discourse changes of "vaccination" in People's Daily from three perspectives.Firstly,from a diachronic perspective,the discourse features were summarized in stages.From 1978 to 2002,the discourse of routine immunization mobilization was dominant in People's Daily with strong propaganda color.From 2003 to2008,its discourse topics gradually diversified,and "free" became a high-frequency word...Secondly,from the three perspectives of discourse subject,discourse content and discourse symbol,it is found that the discourse subject has realized the change from single to multiple.In terms of discourse content,the transformation from epidemic prevention to disease prevention and control,from disease prevention and control to public health has been realized...Then,conclusions about discourse changes are drawn from four deeper levels,including the integration of immunization mobilization discourse from conventional immunization mobilization discourse to multiple mobilization discourse,and the humanistic care in the discourse has become more prominent,the professionalism of discourse has been significantly improved,and the discourse on safety supervision has gradually become strict.Finally,the paper studies the causes of its discourse changes based on specific social practices,including politics,economy,culture,science and technology as well as the factors of People's Daily itself. |
