| In the era of self-publishing,short-form video has become an explosion, allowing everyone to express their ideas instantly as media professionals and to give feedback. However, behind the glamour of these videos, there are also concerns that stereotypes of specific regions are gradually evolving into regional stigmas with negative symbolic meanings, fuelled by audience-centred self-media platforms such as Shake TV,and are becoming more and more commonplace in an increasingly entertaining public discourse. It also affects the public’s overall impression and cultural perception of the region, both economically and culturally, and can be a stumbling block to its development. If left unchecked, this could easily lead to public anger and divisions within the population. In a world where everything is entertainment, there is an urgent need to find a solution to the solidification of regional stigma. The anonymity and ease of access in the age of self-media is also a driving force behind this phenomenon, but it has broken the high concentration of power in the traditional official media, thus giving the solidified image of regional stigmas a chance to be reversed. The internet community is adept at expressing itself and spreading its ideas through social media in the form of short videos, and with entertainment supremacy, online self-parody as a playful form of self-entertainment has demonstrated the innovative ability to ’both deconstruct and construct’,if If the ’regional stigma’ is considered as ’other mockery’,then the ’self-mockery’ can be considered to deconstruct the regional stigma to bring about a new transformation in the solidification of its symbolic image. Therefore, the article will attempt to focus on the self-deprecating deconstruction of the stigmatization of the "Shanxi coal boss" case, analyse and explore the stigmatization symbols at the cognitive level, propose research hypotheses and construct a theoretical model based on theories related to regional stigmas, and then generalize the self-deprecating deconstruction strategy of the stigmatization symbols. This study takes the creation of the short entertainment video "Talking about Jin on the Mirror" as an opportunity to deconstruct the stigmatised regional symbols, taking the group of "Shanxi people" behind the "Shanxi coal boss" as the main narrative perspective,to reflect on the stigmatised group’s flirtatious perception of this label. The overall design of the play is characterised by self-deprecating humour and the use of symbolism in the play’s themes, characterisation and props,to illustrate how self-deprecating deconstruction strategies can be applied to the treatment of regional stigmas in a creative practice centred on ironic narratives. |
