A Research Of Coal Report In Shanxi Daily(2001-2012)

The coal which has the magnificent meaning to the people in Shanxi also plays a great significance role in Shanxi province and even the development of the whole country. Many cities and counties in Shanxi province have been relying much on coal mining life in a long period. The mining and processing of the coal has been the coal competitiveness in Shanxi which turns into the important energetic strategy of the nation. As we all known, the coal business has become a notable signal of Shanxi province. When mentioned "Shanxi", most people will flash the words as "Coal Township","coal","coal city","coal bosses"...... in their minds. Therefore this thesis also plays an important role in shaping a good image of the coal-rich province, Shanxi. Shanxi Daily as the party organ newspaper which is also the largest-circulation newspaper in Shanxi province becomes an important way for the public to understand the cause of Shanxi coal. At the beginning of the new century, Shanxi Daily start to correcting which expands its layout, highlights news, and enters into a new stage of development. Shanxi’s coal industry reports also show new features in this change.The thesis studies through the Journalism and Communication angle, using the media frame theory and agenda-setting theory to make a research about the value of coal reports. In the beginning, the paper classified the reports of the Shanxi Daily (during2001-2012) to the volume of coverage, the report content, sources of information, the type of hard and soft news, pictures as its quantitative statistics which regulations and changing reasons also been analyzed and studied. Secondly, based on the research to all the reports of Shanxi Daily, the author analyzes the main broadcasting idea of the newspaper to the coal business in Shanxi, moreover the author rebuild the image of Shanxi province and the coal business in the paper. In the third part, the author makes a deep analysis to the ways of reports which can draw a conclusion of the coal reports’features of Shanxi Daily, and evaluating such special reporting ways. Then the author discusses the disadvantages of twelve years’Shanxi Daily through the locating and writing angles of the coal reports, besides which the author also analyzes the real reasons of the weakness. In the summary, the author gives her advices and strategies about how to improve the effects of broadcasting the coal reports.
