Research On Environmental Journalism In People’s Daily From The Perspective Of Frame Theory(2012-2022)

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the status of ecological civilization construction has been continuously highlighted,and environmental issues have become the focus of attention from all walks of life and an important issue in media news reports.As the most influential party and government organ newspaper in China,People’s Daily plays an irreplaceable role in implementing the idea of ecological civilization in the new era,promoting the concept of green development,reflecting the current situation of the ecological environment,and conveying the government’s environmental protection policies.In order to explore the impact of national policies and social realities on environmental news reporting during the 18th to 20th National Congress as a whole,this study uses the sampling week method to select a sample of environmental news from 2012 to June 2022 as the research object,and uses Zang Guoren’s framework theory as a support to study the environmental news of People’s Daily in the past ten years.On a high hierarchy,this paper quantifies the number of news,reporting topics,page distribution,reporting genre and sources of People’s Daily environmental news,and finds that the thematic framework of People’s Daily has a strong bias,pays attention to the authority of topics,and closely follows national political policies.In the middle hierarchy,the structural framework of People’s Daily environmental news tends to use the framework structure of major events to describe news facts,give the public specific certification of environmental events,and supplement the evaluation framework to guide public opinion.On the low hierarchy,the length,high-frequency vocabulary,emotional tendency and picture situation of People’s Daily environmental news are analyzed,and it is found that the emotional tendency of People’s Daily environmental news is biased towards neutrality and positive,and the use of key words deepens the main purpose of the report,and there are deficiencies in the use of picture symbols.From an overall point of view,the framework of People’s Daily environmental news has the characteristics of news themes closely following official trends and ecological concepts,the narrative structure focuses on objective statements,emphasizes propaganda and guidance,and language symbols reflect the changes of the times and highlight the characteristics of positive attitude.From the perspective of the evolution of the framework structure of People’s Daily environmental news,it can be divided into three stages.The first phase,from 2012 to 2015,was characterized by an increase in the popularity of environmental issues,and news reports focusing on key environmental issues.The second phase,from2016 to 2018,is characterized by emphasis on green development issues and an expanded narrative framework.The third phase,from 2019 to June 2022,is characterized by a multi-purpose achievement display framework that highlights the development connotation of the new era.Political policy,media positioning,social culture and other factors have a profound impact on the formation and change of the characteristics of People’s Daily environmental news.In the past decade,People’s Daily has provided rich and authoritative environmental news coverage,with its unique advantages: focusing on major issues and focusing on a wide range of fields;Describe objectively and positively,reflecting political stance;Wake up public awareness and disseminate the concept of "deep green".However,there are also some shortcomings,such as obvious environmental authoritarianism,weak risk critical function,and single news form and content.In response to these issues,this article proposes corresponding optimization strategies:expanding the discourse space of non-governmental entities;Strengthen reporting on critical risk issues;Establish a mindset of integrating media environment reporting.
