An Analysis Of Environmental News Coverage In The Ecological Edition Of People's Daily

In recent years,with environmental issues highlighted,public concern more and more about environmental issues.The media,as a public resource,has the responsibility of early risk warning,public opinion supervision and publicity education,and additionally enhances the public's environmental awareness and enhances its participation through environmental reporting.The Ecological Edition of People's Daily,as the central party newspaper media eco-environmental protection edition,delivers environmental information,and universal environmental protection knowledge,which makes itself has great influence in the field of environmental news.Therefore,it is helpful to improve the current situation of environmental news reports in China by analyzing the characteristics of environmental news in the People's Daily and Eco-edition.In this study,three hundred and sixty environmental news reports from January 5,2015 to December 31,2016.were used as research samples,based on narrative theory,using content analysis and text analysis methods to deeply analyze the "People's Daily Eco Edition" environmental news reports.First of all,through the study of news topics,reports tone,sources and news genre and other dimensions,to show the basic situation of the Ecological Edition of People's Daily environmental news,and after that,a deeply text analysis was employed by using the methods based on theory of narrative perspective,narrative pattern,narrative rhetoric and narrative presentation of the ecological version of environmental news,and it discussed the textual construction and narrative connotation of the Ecological Edition of People's Daily environmental news reports.Finally,based on the above conclusions,this study summarized the characteristics and shortcomings of the environmental news reports and tried to provide a reference strategy for its future environmental news reports.According to this research,the environment related reports of the Ecological Edition of People's Daily are widely related to the theme of environmental related issues,while the"dark green" sustainable development concept as the leading,focusing on the nature of the problem in-depth environmental issues;propaganda typed reported is more prominent,which was highlighting the achievement of environmental protection;on the other hand,the environmental news reports emphasize the opportunity of discourse expression of the elite groups,which improved the authority and credibility of the news;moreover,good using of a variety of narrative presentation practice the idea of integration of media.However,on the other hand,the Ecological Edition of People's Daily has some cons,such as,environmental risk is under low attention,which the environmental issues were concerned imbalanced and early warning of environmental risks is insufficient;reports in the public opinion supervision is weak,and the responsibility of the main division is not clear,critical reports is insufficient;the public discourse space is further compressed due to the overall trend of public opinion was led by the elite group.And moreover,lacking of humanistic care,and sensual excavation of people,leads to the insufficient of details and emotional expression.Hence,this research attempt to provide some strategy to optimize and improve the environmental news report in the Ecological Edition of People's Daily,and also provides some useful reference for other media in environmental news reports.According to this,this thesis argues that,with the "environmental civil society"gradually formed,the traditional mainstream media in the environmental news reports should emphasize the coordination between elite and public discourse,while weaken the"propaganda model" role;mainstream media should also apply web2.0 New media technology to enhance the interaction with the public,so as to shape the citizens as"participants" role in the environmental issues,which will promote China's environmental news reports of social significance.
