Z Company is one of the primary suppliers in the telecommunications business systems and big data integration platform, catering to industries such as telecommunications,e-commerce,and postal services, and committed to achieving enterprise digital transformation. With the rapid development of cloud servers, cloud computing, and cloud technologies, coupled with the advancement of 5G infrastructure,Z Company has made breakthroughs within the industry. Its main products include CRM relationship systems, big data platforms, and billing systems, among other related production system constructions.Since its establishment,Z Company has predominantly developed most client systems using the traditional project management approach. However, with the continuous evolution of technology, changing customer demands, and updates in the technological landscape, such as cloud services and microservices, this poses challenges for Z Company, which has relied on traditional project management methods. These challenges manifest in delayed schedules, increased resource costs, and inconsistencies with project charters, making project acceptance difficult. The root cause of these predicaments lies in Z Company’s adoption of inappropriate project management methods.Recently,Z Company implemented Project A,which consisted of two phases. In the first phase,a traditional project management approach was employed, resulting in various issues caused by project management practices. After analyzing the project, the project team determined that a singular project management approach was not suitable for this project. To address the problems encountered in the first phase, and after conducting an agile development suitability model evaluation with the client, the project sponsors and clients planned to adopt a hybrid project management approach for the second phase. This approach involved initially utilizing agile project management to progressively define requirements, followed by the use of traditional project management to standardize project management operations.Based on the validation of the results from the implementation of Phase 2 of Project A,the optimized project management solution enhanced collaboration, agility, and iterative capabilities, improving customer satisfaction and project robustness. This optimization approach also provides guidance and assistance for other software companies.
