In recent years,China’s children’s publishing,as a "leading force" in the publishing field,has ushered in a golden age of development.When talking about publishing,it is natural to think of reading,which is closely related to it,and the two as a symbiotic development relationship jointly promote the in-depth development of China’s cultural undertakings.As a key link in the promotion of reading for all in China,children’s reading has received extensive attention from all walks of life.Because of its differentiated and scientific grading method,graded reading meets the reading needs of current readers with deeper level,wider fields and higher quality.As an important way to measure children’s reading level,graded reading has formed a relatively mature grading standard and measurement index in European and American countries.However,since the introduction of the concept of graded reading into China to the landing of specific publishing practices,it has not been as smooth as imagined.Then,whether the concept of graded reading as an imported product really matches the reading process of domestic children,what are the development characteristics of children’s books in the actual publishing and production process,and the development dilemmas and subsequent optimization measures reflected by the characteristics of different stages constitute the issues discussed in this paper.Based on the above problems,this paper mainly adopts the literature research method,comparative research method and case study method,takes the publishing products with grading attributes in the field of children’s book publishing as the research object,and supplemented it with rich cases to support the rationality of the viewpoint.This paper first clarifies the differences between graded reading and book grading,and focuses on the latter,that is,graded publications.Secondly,starting from the demand and market for children’s books graded reading materials,based on the graded demand dynamics of different subjects,the necessity of the concept of graded reading is analyzed,and then the transition from the demand driver to the current development history of graded reading and the current market feedback.Thirdly,according to the different stages of development of graded books,it is divided into three stages of progressive development process: introduction and adaptation stage,original primary stage and iterative upgrading stage,from seeking cooperation to independent exploration combined with local context,and then to constructing a three-dimensional reading ecology,by combing the differentiated publishing and production characteristics of each stage,we can glimpse the development of China’s children’s book grading market and the iterative process.Finally,according to the analysis of phased development characteristics,the problems existing in the process of graded book publishing are explored,mainly from the three dimensions of content production,intermediate circulation and user demand,and the optimization ideas of subsequent graded book publishing are proposed for the problems,so as to provide certain reference for the benign development of the children’s book grading market and even the entire children’s book publishing market.
