Research On The Construction Of Urban Image By Documentary From The Perspective Of Narratology

The development of the city is changing with each passing day.The past of the city has accumulated urban history and culture and urban development changes.The present of the city shows the urban style,contains the urban spirit and urban temperament,which constitute a rich and diverse urban image.Urban documentary,a new type of documentary,is produced in the process of urban development and is closely connected with the past and present of the city.It carries and plays a role in building the image of the city.This paper first combs the emergence and development of urban documentaries,and defines the concept.Then,from the perspective of narratology,on the basis of observing many documentaries,it analyzes the narrative performance of documentaries in different periods and different cities in the construction of urban image.Combined with the observation and recording of the documentary and the corresponding narrative analysis,the fourth part of this paper,based on Lefebvre’s spatial theory,puts forward innovative strategies in the selection of narrative content of the documentary,so as to achieve a more profound and comprehensive construction of the city image.After that,it puts forward that the creation of urban documentary should flexibly select narrative techniques according to the narrative content,and improve the acceptance and visibility of the constructed urban image through story narration,unfamiliar narration and returning to the nature of recording.In terms of narrative perspective and narrative structure,it is proposed to use refined and Diversified Perspectives in addition to the traditional mainstream narrative perspective,and try to adopt new narrative structures such as circle drawing,time axis and space axis,so as to build a city image that has not been shown in previous documentaries and improve the viewing experience.Finally,this paper also puts forward some innovative narrative language strategies,such as using long lens pictures,empty lens pictures,leaving voice blank,and consciously using dialect elements.To sum up,urban documentaries have formed their own types with the process of urbanization.At the same time,they play a functional mission of building a city image with the continuous development of narrative content and narrative methods.With the high-quality development of cities and the unremitting exploration and innovation of media content creation,documentaries can be expected to build a city image in the future.
