This study takes the protests and demonstrations and related events in Hong Kong as the research object in June 2019.It selects mainstream newspaper media in China,the United States and Germany,uses the theory and methods of frame research,and focuses on mainstream Chinese and Western newspapers The media reported on the use of the framework of the Hong Kong incident and the influencing factors of the framework in two aspects,and made suggestions for the impact of international media on our newspaper media.This study is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduction introduces the research background,research significance and the development process of Hong Kong demonstrations.The second chapter sorts out the connotation and analysis path of the framework theory,and reviews and summarizes the literatures with similar contents or methods.The third chapter introduces the research design in detail,puts forward research questions,and introduces research ideas and the selection of research objects.The research method adopted in this article is content analysis.This chapter records in detail the specific process of content analysis,including data collection,sampling,category construction and reliability testing.The fourth chapter presents the statistical results of five countries’ newspaper reports in five aspects,including propensity,source,content,general framework,and high-frequency keywords,and conducts a descriptive comparison and analysis.Chapter 5 is the conclusion of this study.The fifth chapter is divided into subsections,which expounds the content and differences of the framework of different media reports,the factors influencing the framework,and the suggestions on the influence of international media on our media.The conclusion of this article is mainly based on the media content data obtained from content analysis and the sample texts.This article finds that the mainstream newspaper media in Chinese and Western countries have shown a confrontational status in the reporting frame of the series of protests and related events in Hong Kong in 2019,especially between the mainstream newspaper media in China and in the United States.Although the tone of the mainstream newspaper media in the western world is similar,the reporting frame used by the mainstream newspaper media in Germany and in the United States are slightly different.With regard to the influencing factors of the use of the frame,this article considers that national interest is the core factor affecting the frame,and the complexity between state relations and interests affects the complexity of the reporting frame;Ideology and values are the basic factors affecting the reporting frame,and they make the reporting of Chinese and Western newspapers generally confront;media characteristics,reporting traditions and news value judgments are also important factors affecting the reporting. |
