After entering into the field of journalism and communication, spatial theory provides a unique perspective for researchers to observe the relationship between media and social construction.Media is not only the information carrier to witness the change of space, but also the subject of mimicry space and collective imagination. The planning and construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is an important part of the new pattern of China's comprehensive opening up in the new era, which contains rich political, economic and cultural significance. As a space carrier with complex social ecology,it is filled with a large number of social relations and spatial co-existence,and it is a space object concerned and constructed by the mass media.Make the news media can use the report content to complete the space production, elucidation the space meaning.Mainstream media play an important role in space production. This paper selects the news reports on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of Nan Fang Daily,Ta Kung Pao and Macao Daily as the research object, conducts text analysis, takes Edward W.Soja' s Space theory as the theoretical framework, and the different levels of media space production are taken as clues,to explore the characteristics of news media coverage. This paper analyzes how the media carries out space production, which space definition is given to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the meaning behind space production. Then it finds out the existing problems in the report content and puts forward the countermeasures of content optimization.First of all, this paper analyzes the content of relevant reports of Nanfang Daily,Ta Kung Pao and Macao Daily to understand the textual representation of media's space production. It is found that the three newspapers have the same characteristics, including that the number of reports varies with the trend of the same over time; The report genre is mainly news; There are few ecological themes in the report. The reason is that the three newspapers are affected by the national policy documents, the tendency of social planning and social events. In terms of differences in reports, the report of Nan Fang Daily has a macro perspective and a high news comprehensiveness, which highlights its characteristics as a mainstream party newspaper in the mainland and requires multi-dimensional publicity. The Ta Kung Pao focuses on leading public opinion with critical articles and tends to report local news, which reflects the complex and diverse social ecology of Hong Kong.Macao Daily tends to report collaborative news and show identity, because Macao's industry is single and it is in urgent need of diversified development with the opportunity of the Greater Bay Area.Secondly, from the perspective of constructing "otherization" space for news media, this paper analyzes the multiple definitions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area given by the three newspapers in their space production. These five definitions are: a convergent city cluster with four transportation links,a technological innovation center with elements gathering,an international financial hub with connectivity,a platform for youth development with multiple opportunities, and a cultural homology place for frequent cultural interactions. At the same time, the paper also excavates the significance of news media space production, that is,highlighting external linkage and inwards convergence, creating a livable and businesslike city image, constructing historical memory and collective identity.Thirdly,it discusses the problems in shaping the third space for the audience. It is found that the problems reported by the new mainstream media in the four places are the unbalanced perspective of discourse, the lack of heterogeneity of cultural narrative, the lack of interpretation of relevance to major social events, and the obvious deviation of topics. Therefore, this paper proposes four optimization strategies: sinking discourse perspective, showing multiple opinions;Highlight multiculturalism and seek for symbiosis;Actively connect with the society, use events to guide;Balance the choice of topics and show the bay area. Finally, the paper finds that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, with its complex spatial features, gives the media more space to express themselves. At the same time, the media can adjust the discourse, balance the social forces and transform the spatial meaning in the process of space production, which is the third space for the development of the country and the happiness of the people, making it "the possession of the masses".
