Since the event of central occupation in Hong Kong, it has aroused g reat attention from home and abroad. The social media from inland of Chi na and Hong Kong take on sidling; most of the people emphasize "what h appened" on the emotional reports, while few people earnestly think abou t "why" and "how". The distinctive political complexion of Media in Hon g Kong is the result of certain history and political circumstance. It is ver y valuable to analyze the specialty under the framework of national identi ty, combining the specific cases. The event of occupation provides material to analyze how the media in Hong Kong construct the nation identity in their reports. The author investigates the lasting reports of 79 days about the occupation collected from Wen Hui Daily, South China Morning Post and Apple Daily. Based on the sampling,223 related reports on eight event nodes including conversation of Students’ federation, clearance and etc are abstracted and analyzed. The body of the essay has analyzed different attitudes towards this event and some representative reports. Through the deep analysis of political ecological evolution, unavoidable realistic problems, the roles of media, the author finds that the current media industry is creature of specific politics and society, not only the decision of politics but also the close connection of economy and culture can solve the political problems in Hong Kong. The good effect of news dissemination digests national identity in some extent, which demonstrate the construction of national identity is a two-way solution of seeking common ground and keeping the differences rather than one-way. At last, the author gives some advice on the construction of the common feelings, the emphasis on the bewilderment of younger generation and the function of media, hoping to have some reference on solving the problems.
