| City image is a comprehensive representation of the "soft power" of a city’s development,and it is also an invisible "business card" for the external communication of regional image.Against the context of the full implementation of the strong capital strategy in Guangxi and the 30 th anniversary of China-ASEAN cooperation,Nanning,as a regional cosmopolitan city facing ASEAN,a good international image can create a harmonious atmosphere of cooperation with ASEAN countries,get rid of stereotypes and form a win-win situation of improving the perception of foreign people and the city’s regional development cooperation.By using a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods,this dissertation establishes a sample database of Nanning news from the Lianhe Zaobao,United Evening Paper and Shin Min Daily News for the past ten years.This paper also conducts a superficial sample analysis,a deep text analysis,and a reflective comparative analysis of the coverage of Nanning in these newspapers.Descriptive statistics were used in the news sample data analysis stage,and the data were integrated in Excel.The text data is analyzed by Chinese word separation based on jieba library and pandas deactivation of Num Py,so as to complete the corpus building.The sentiment analysis stage mainly relies on Snow NLP library to assign weighting to the full-sample news data and determine the sentiment tendency based on the score.The word frequency calculation stage is completed by introducing Wordcloud and Matplotlib for statistics and word cloud rendering.The news topic classification is based on the LDA model,and then the topic categories are integrated according to the bag-of-words model.In the content analysis stage of news reports,the text analysis method is adopted,and the image of Nanning city’s culture,tourism,social,economic and political aspects are analyzed in depth in conjunction with the news topics in the previous stage.In the comparison and analysis stage,the image of Nanning summarized in the previous stage is compared and analyzed with the image of the latest strong capital plan of Nanning City,and then the advantages and shortcomings of the ASEAN international image of Nanning are summarized and analyzed.The valid sample statistics and content analysis of the reports involving Nanning can conclude that the reports involving Nanning in the decade from 2011 to 2020 have a large base of cultural,tourism and economic reports,and the emotional tendency is dominated by positive reports.These reports on Nanning all present the cultural image of the world’s Zhuang ethnic group hometown,sports city,and exhibition capital,the tourism image of the international tourism center city and the hometown of folk songs;the social image of the colorful daily life but also exist the livelihood problems;the economic image of the open city,logistics hub,and financial gateway to ASEAN;and the political image of the importance of regional cooperation but also the problems.These reports involving Nanning also reveal the drawbacks of social governance problems,low visibility of the capital,unbalanced reporting themes,and lack of three-dimensional city image.The image of Nanning as an ASEAN international city presented in these reports is a combination of many factors such as cultural,economic,and reader demand wrestling.To this end,the government should support overseas Chinese media in terms of policy and strengthen communication and exchange with them.The government should also pay attention to the reports of Singapore Chinese media,respond to doubts and misunderstandings in a timely manner,and seize key time points to proactively set the reporting agenda;and ultimately rely on the cooperation of various parties in the region,so as to better promote the international image of Nanning. |
