The study attempts to analyze the text of The Sin Kuo Min Press, a Chinese newspaper in Singapore during the decade of 1919 to 1982, to reflect the relationship and interaction between China and Nanyang Chinese Society.20s’ of 20 th century proved to be a turbulence time for China. China society wasn’t able to proceed into steady and peaceful development after the 1911 revolution, which ended up failing to establish a constitutional government. With support from foreign capitalism countries, Chinese armies and warlords fought bitterly against each other for years, pursuing the sole ruling power over the land after the death of Yuan Shikai and the collapse of his team. There were fights everywhere of all kinds, between those who after revolutions and the warloards, or among the themselvies. However, the strength looking for revolutions, represented by Sun Yat-sen, was weak, economically or politically. In order to grow his power Sun put a tactic focus in Nanyang, where many revolutionary initiatives developed. One of his grasp is communication of revolutionary information. The Sin Kuo Min Press was a key player at that time in Nanyang.This study analyzes the relations between China and Nanyang through the Chinese language newspaper of The Sin Kuo Min Press. The 1st chapter gives an overseeing of the Chinese language newspapers in Singapore including their inspiration, booming and falling. They were initially religious contented, then political and commercial. The political newspaper fully interpreted the battles among all political powers playing in Nanyang at that time. The transform of political newspapers into commercial ones showed the social and political development of the society of Singapore. Chinese language newspapers in modern times were diminished due to the degression of China. In contemporary era a booming came with the progress of China as voices from China need more channels to communicate.The 2nd chapter gives a thorough analysis of the content and forms of The Sin Kuo Min Press. The 1st section is about the newspaper’s history, layout, purpose, readership, circulation and its management. The 2nd section is about the people who ran and operated the newspaper, especially the managers, editors and the main writers, to know the thoughts the newpapers have been transmitting. The 3rd section comments on the news and editorials in the newspaper, including the content from the advertisement and the supplement New Nation’s Journal.The 3rd chapter gives the reflection of the development of capitalism democracy in Chinese groups in Nanyang by The Sin Kuo Min Press. The democratic trends in Chinese groups in Nanyang appeared by at end of 19 th century and boosted in the 20’s 20 th century, which left a clear trail in the text of The Sin Kuo Min Press.The 4th chapter analyzes the growing of nationalism in Chinese groups in Nanyang, including the definition of the nationalism in the Chinese groups in Nanyang, its born and development. This chapter also talks about the reaction of The Sin Kuo Min Press against the nationalism in Chinese groups in Nanyang which helps the self-identify of Chinese groups to China.The 5th chapter is about the development of the feminism movements in Chinese groups in Nanyang. As The Sin Kuo Min Press showed great concern on women’s issues, words about women repeated appeared in the newspaper, echoing the political and social movements going on in Nanyang at that time. A clear trail of women movements were presented by The Sin Kuo Min Press through the content about feminism theories, women’s practices and education for Chinese women and girls.Newspapers as live history documents give important evidences on the development of societies. That’s what the this study is trying to do, to present a full picture of the mutual action and impact of China and Nanyang Chinese groups through the analysis of content of the Chinese language newspaper of The Sin Kuo Min Press.
