A Study On Group Work Interventions To Enhance The Community Participation Capacity Of Elderly People In Demolition And Resettlement Communities

At present,China’s ageing will continue to deepen,and the problem of ageing is becoming more and more serious.After retirement,most of the elderly people are facing the problem of affluent material life but lack of spiritual life,they are knowledgeable and have rich life experience.Therefore,it is imperative that older people play a role in community participation and improve their ability to participate in the community.During the internship,a survey was conducted in the P community of Xiamen to investigate the community participation capacity of the elderly in the community.It was found that there is a lack of community participation capacity among the elderly in this community,mainly due to a weak awareness of community participation,a lack of knowledge of community participation and a lack of community participation skills.Based on this situation,the author used semi-structured interviews,questionnaires and observation methods to explain the causes of the low community participation capacity of the elderly in community P,and then analysed their needs for capacity enhancement,combined activity theory and enrichment theory,designed a group social work plan,formulated group activity objectives and used group social work methods and techniques to conduct six group activities with ten elderly in community P to help them The main focus was on participation knowledge,participation awareness and participation skills.The group activities were designed to help them understand their role in community participation,enhance their understanding of the community,master their communication skills,strengthen their teamwork skills,explore their potential,improve their self-confidence and promote their value in the process of community participation.This study demonstrates to some extent the effectiveness of group social work interventions in enhancing the community participation of older people and the applicability of activity and empowerment theory.
