| STEM education is a new teaching mode of multi-course integration for the purpose of cultivating students’ innovation ability which including Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics and leads students to explore a certain issue with the knowledge of multiple fields flexibly,so as to cultivate students’ professional awareness and discipline knowledge of these courses.From the comparative analysis between the basic concept of the new curriculum standard and the STEM education concept,it can be found that the cultivation method of STEM education is consistent with the cultivation direction of students’ core literacy in the new curriculum standard.The basic idea of the new curriculum standard is to develop the core literacy of the subject as the main idea,set up courses to meet the diversified development needs of students,and pay attention to the "literacy based" teaching.Therefore,it is theoretically feasible to implement STEM education in high school chemistry teaching,and it is of great significance to effectively train scientific and technologically innovative talents.At present,China’s STEM curriculum is still in its infancy and developing slowly.In the face of the development of domestic STEM education,the author chooses to explore and practice the teaching design based on STEM core literacy on the basis of relevant STEM education theories,taking STEM core literacy as the framework,combining constructivism learning theory and Dewey’s idea of "learning by doing" through inquisitive teaching method.The results of exploration are compared with traditional teaching methods,and the practical conclusions of STEM education are obtained.Questionnaire survey was adopted to understand the combination of local STEM education and high school chemistry,hoping to provide some new teaching ideas and methods for chemistry teachers and practical materials for more STEM educators.The introduction of STEM education concept provides a new idea for our chemistry teaching.By learning STEM education concepts,students can change traditional classroom teaching methods,make chemistry classroom more interesting,stimulate students’ learning interest,and cultivate students’ innovation awareness and practical ability.At the same time,combining STEM education concepts with chemistry classes can better stimulate students’ enthusiasm for learning and improve classroom efficiency.However,there are some difficulties in the process of integrating STEM education concepts into chemistry teaching.Therefore,we should continue to learn new technology,new methods,new ideas,and constantly explore and innovate in teaching practice.It is believed that STEM education concepts will be deeply integrated with chemistry classroom teaching in the near future,providing new ideas and methods for our chemistry education.This paper takes the high school students of the school where the author works as the research object,studies the basic concept and theoretical basis of STEM education by using the research methods of literature,case study,questionnaire survey,comparison and practice research,and obtains the practical effect of STEM education application through the practice of STEM education concept in different types of teaching cases.In addition,a questionnaire survey was made on the application of STEM education in the local area to obtain the actual application survey data of STEM education.With the deepening of the new curriculum reform,STEM education has become a new direction for the development of domestic education.It is believed that more and more teachers will devote themselves to the practice of STEM education in the future.STEM education is a new way of teaching,which needs constant exploration and practice.However,in the teaching practice of STEM education,attention should be paid to cultivating students’ teamwork spirit and innovation consciousness,creating a harmonious learning environment for students,cultivating students’ hands-on ability,and allowing students to improve their own ability in practice.Based on his own experience,the author puts forward some helpful methods for the development of chemistry education and STEM education.For example,combining STEM education with humanities,understanding related concepts under the support of cultural background,or arousing students’ learning interest with the anecdotes of famous scientists related to chemistry;Link with modern information technology,such as virtual laboratory,interactive courseware to enhance the classroom interest and help students understand.To sum up,in the process of applying STEM theory to high school chemistry classroom teaching,the author has achieved certain teaching effects,which also proves the scientific nature and effectiveness of STEM education.The author takes the STEM education concept as the guiding ideology in teaching design and practice.Although some results have been achieved to a certain extent,there are still some deficiencies in the practical application process.For example,when STEM education concepts are applied to high school chemistry teaching,teachers should flexibly master teaching strategies and adjust teaching methods when carrying out practical activities,so as to realize the effective combination of STEM education concepts and high school chemistry teaching.STEM education in China has just started,and there are still many shortcomings.In order to promote STEM education concepts,we need not only strong support from relevant departments of the state,but also the joint efforts of teachers and students. |
