STEM education is one of the hot topics in basic education curriculum reform.Fostering positive attitude toward STEM can improve students' interest in STEM studies and related careers. In order to explore the influences of mathematics interdisciplinary teaching on students' STEM attitude, this study designed and implemented mathematics interdisciplinary teaching which based on STEM translation model and 6E model.16 seventh graders students(12 boys and 4 girls)participated in this course. This study discussed the following two questions:(1)How to design and implement mathematics interdisciplinary teaching based on 6E teaching model?(3)What are the changes in students' STEM attitude before and after the implementation of interdisciplinary mathematics teaching? The course was designed and developed through three times iterations.By analyzing the existing cases of implementing STEM courses at home and abroad, the current situation of students' attitude toward STEM and the factors that affect students' attitude toward STEM,the theme of curriculum design, main teaching content and the model of curriculum implementation were determined.Under the theoretical guidance of the STEM translation model, the teaching content was reasonably integrated into each phase of 6E model.Through simulation teaching and trial teaching, the curriculum details were refined, and the STEM curriculum centered on mathematics was developed. The interdisciplinary STEM teaching model based on 6E model and centered on mathematics was extracted.Data were collected by in-depth interview and document collection. The study used qualitative method to analyse the data. The results show that:(1)Before the implementation of the teaching, students' attitude towards STEM tended to be positive, and they had a positive attitude towards mathematics and integrated STEM learning. However, they didn't know enough about the application value of mathematics.Students' attitude towards science, engineering and technology tended to be positive, but they didn't know much about the application of engineering and technology.Students had a certain awareness of interdisciplinary application of knowledge, but in the embryonic stage. And they had a more positive attitude towards STEM careers.(2)According to the results of the questionnaire survey, there was no significant difference in students' attitude towards STEM before and after the implementation of the teaching. However,it was found that students had a more positive attitude towards STEM subjects and realized the importance and application of STEM subjects according to interview data.Their attitude towards STEM subjects had changed from fuzzy to clear, and they had the most profound understanding of mathematics.Students had a positive attitude towards integrated STEM learning, mastered some interdisciplinary knowledge and gradually formed interdisciplinary thinking. What ' s more,Students had a positive attitude towards STEM careers and had generated or firmly pursued STEM careers by the teaching.
