| Science and technology develop rapidly under the background of artificial intelligence,and knowledge has become diversified and integrated.Cultivating interdisciplinary talents with diversified knowledge system,high-quality information technology literacy,practical ability and innovation ability is a conscious response to the development demands of the era of big data and artificial intelligence due to the huge shortage of interdisciplinary talent.At present,STEM education,as a typical example of interdisciplinary education,has become an important way to cultivate interdisciplinary talents in developed countries.Cultivating students’ interdisciplinary ability from childhood is a major innovation of basic education in talent cultivation,and also an important means to ensure the continuity and foundation of interdisciplinary talent cultivation.Primary STEM teachers’ interdisciplinary ability has a direct impact on the cultivation of students’ interdisciplinary ability.STEM teachers in primary schools are an important guarantee for the success of interdisciplinary talent cultivation,therefore,the current situation and problems of STEM teachers in primary schools are worth studying.This study investigated the interdisciplinary abilities of STEM teachers in Shanghai primary schools.Firstly,based on all kinds of interdisciplinary literature,the author expounds the necessity of the development of interdisciplinary ability,and indicates that the development of interdisciplinary ability is the only way to cultivate talents in times,countries and basic education.Then,by referring to relevant research materials at home and abroad,this paper attempts to construct the components of the interdisciplinary ability of primary school STEM teachers,including four aspects: multidisciplinary knowledge reserve,innovative performance,teamwork and practical application.Then,a question bank was established to investigate the interdisciplinary abilities of STEM teachers in primary schools in Shanghai by means of questionnaire survey.The results showed that :(1)solid multidisciplinary knowledge,but insufficient integration and application ability;(2)strong innovation thinking ability,but weak innovation personality;(3)the team has high adaptability,but insufficient role recognition ability in cooperation;(4)in practice,teachers are weak in technical development and application,but diligent in reflection.Based on the questionnaire results,the author interviewed 20 STEM teachers,from which the author summarized the factors influencing the development of interdisciplinary ability of STEM teachers in Shanghai primary schools.(2)insufficient publicity,teachers’ autonomy is not strong;(3)lack of innovation in training courses,and the training effect is not significant;(4)teachers have few practice opportunities and weak technical operation ability;(5)there is little multidisciplinary cooperation and a lack of interdisciplinary teams;(6)the interdisciplinary ability assessment is not comprehensive and lacks a complete evaluation mechanism.Finally,based on the results of the questionnaire survey and interviews,the author puts forward some suggestions on the interdisciplinary development of STEM teachers in Shanghai: enrich teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge,establish interdisciplinary training system,optimizing the training courses,broadening the interdisciplinary practice areas,establishing an interdisciplinary teacher team and establishing a sound evaluation mechanism. |
