The COVID-19 epidemic swept through China at the end of 2019,and it has been three years since then.From the beginning of 2020 to the beginning of 2023,China has implemented an active anti epidemic policy at this stage.In terms of school education,the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic is that we have to stop offline teaching and take measures to isolate online learning at home.At this stage,how the mental health and academic performance of junior high school students who are themselves in adolescence will be affected,and what strategies school administrators should take have become the focus of current educators’ exploration.At present,most research results show that academic performance is affected by mental health and COVID-19 epidemic,but at present,there are few integrated studies on COVID-19 epidemic,mental health and academic performance.In this context,from the perspective of school management,this study explores the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on mental health and academic performance of junior high schoolstudents in Weifang,Shandong Province and Lhasa,Tibet.This study uses the COVID-19 Epidemic Risk Perception Scale,the Chinese Middle School Students Mental Health Scale,the Youth Academic Burnout Scale,the Junior High School Students Teacher Student Relationship Scale,and the Parent Child Relationship Scale,Taking 1141 students as the research objects,the survey results are statistically analyzed to provide some reference for solving the existing problems.Results:(1)The effect of COVID-19 epidemic on mental health of junior high school students was not obvious.(2)Junior high school students with different demographic characteristics have different degrees of differences in the total score of mental health or some factors,academic burnout,teacher-student relationship,and parent-child relationship.(3)Mental health of junior high school students can positively predict academic performance.Conclusion:(1)COVID-19 epidemic has no significant effect on mental health of junior high school students(2)The mental health and academic achievement of junior high school students are affected by some demographic characteristics Such as: gender,area,family status and other factors In this study,girls in junior high school are more likely to have mental health problems such as depression,anxiety,academic stress and emotional instability under the background of epidemic situation;Students in boarding schools are more likely to have psychological problems than students in non-boarding schools(3)Junior high school students’ mental health can positively predict their academic achievements(4)Combining the present situation and relationship of the three,some school management strategies are put forward That is: first,do a good job in school management under social events such as major epidemics;Second,increase educational support and improve teachers and hardware facilities of mental health education;Thirdly,according to the characteristics of different genders and grades,carry out mental health education with different themes;Fourth,establish a mental health education system in line with local characteristics according to local conditions...
