Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages has ushered in the upsurge of online teaching with the help of network platforms due to the impact of the COVID-19.Especially the younger age group,they become the main audience of online teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Children are lively and active in nature and like specific,vivid and intuitive teaching methods,which determines that teachers must choose teaching methods that are suitable for children.Situational teaching method can attract children’s attention,stimulate their learning interest and improve their learning efficiency through pictures,videos and so on.This paper combines the teaching experience of teaching Chinese online on Lingo Ace teaching platform with case analysis to prove the practical value of situational teaching method.It hoped to provide teaching reference for online Teaching activities of Chinese vocabulary for overseas Chinese children.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the research background and significance,research content and research methods,and expounds the research status of situational teaching method through the literature research method.The second chapter expounds the applied theoretical basis of situational teaching method and children’s Chinese teaching through the definition,principles and creating circumstances of situational teaching method.The third chapter investigates the current situation of online vocabulary teaching by means of questionnaires,and finds out the existing problems in vocabulary teaching and the difficulties in students’ vocabulary learning process on Lingo Ace teaching platform,which combining with the advantages of situational teaching method in online vocabulary teaching,the traits and influential factors of overseas Chinese children’s language learning.The fourth chapter shows the concrete implementation process of the situational teaching method in the five links of pre-class introduction,class-display,explanation,exercises and homework assignment,taking the lesson of What Do You Buy in the third volume of Happy Chinese as a practical case,and verifies the effectiveness of the application of the situational teaching method in online vocabulary teaching for overseas Chinese children through the comparison of the performance of the exercises,student interviews and classroom observation and analysis.The fifth chapter makes teaching reflections and suggestions on the application of situational teaching method based on the specific implementation process of teaching cases.
