| In recent years, with the development of the mobile Internet, the short video industry has risen rapidly, occupying more and more people’s time.Among the increasingly large user groups of short video platforms, the proportion of young users has gradually increased, and the topic of primary school students becoming short video onlookers and participants has also been hotly debated. In the process of short videos constantly infiltrating our lives, the video content of different quality and bad is also constantly pouring into primary school students’ groups, which has an important impact on their life and learning. Therefore, this study starts with primary school students’ short video usage behavior, and explores the impact mechanism of parental mediation on primary school students’ short video behavior through the investigation of parental mediation,in order to provide parents with effective measures to guide primary school students’ short video usage. This study took the group of primary school students in Shenzhen,Guangdong Province as the research object, and used the questionnaire survey method combined with the in-depth interview method to investigate 589 primary school students in grades3-6 in Shenzhen.Using the relevant scales to measure the short video cognition, attitude, behavior of primary school students, and the degree of active mediation, restrictive mediation and supervision mediation in parental mediation, the data were analyzed by SPSS software.Descriptive statistical analysis,one-way analysis of variance, chisquare test,Pearson correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis and other statistical methods were used for the data in this study.Questionnaire analysis combined with the results of in-depth interviews found that the use of short videos among primary school students in grades 3-6 in Shenzhen is relatively common, and some primary school students show a tendency to overuse and indulge. There are obvious differences in the use behaviors of different individuals.Boys and lower-grade children are more likely to be addicted to short videos, and students who own media devices alone use them more deeply. The use of short videos is affected by the per capita disposable income of the family and the education level of the father. In terms of parental mediation, parents of primary school students in Shenzhen currently use active mediation strategies most often, but restrictive mediation works best.It can effectively reduce the use time and frequency of short video use,and improve the level of safe use, while supervision mediation increases addictive behaviors. And the use of time has a masking effect on the effects of supervision mediation on addictive behavior. In addition, gender, family structure, and media use mode moderated between parental mediation and short video use.Based on the above findings, this study puts forward targeted educational suggestions, and provides specific management methods and reference paths for parents to use short videos in primary school students in the future. |
